Nyack Nourishes’ mission is to provide meals for the healthcare heroes working at Montefiore Nyack Hospital and the Nyack Community Ambulance Corps during the Covid 19 crisis while supporting local Nyack restaurants in need.
Nyack Nourishes realizes that our community is more than just a group of people living in a town along the Hudson. Our community is a group of people who know that they can lean on each other when times are tough. No one in our community needs more support and nourishment at this moment than the healthcare workers on the front line and our small businesses.
Many of our friends, neighbors and family members make up those medical workers at Montefiore Nyack Hospital and the Nyack Community Ambulance Corps who are putting their lives at risk in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak. They are working extra shifts and long days to focus on caring for those in our community – rarely stopping to eat or think about a meal.
Nyack Nourishes and local Nyack restaurants want to help them fight on!
Please continue to spread the word and check back to this page for updates. Feel free to contact Annie Hekker Weiss, Susan Wilmink or Jen Knecht if you have any questions.
Thank you for the generous donations! In the fortunate event that we get beyond this crisis and have additional funds remaining, we will evenly distribute those donations among the participating restaurants to use for a celebration with the hospital, EMTs and the community at large. Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for your support during this difficult time.
Participating restaurants include:
Casa del Sol
The Olde Village Inne
We can only accommodate ten restaurants at this time but we know that many amazing restaurants in Nyack are rolling up their sleeves to feed healthcare workers and they need your help as well.
If you don't see your favorite Nyack restaurant listed, please contact them directly and we can assist them with the guidelines needed to serve individual bulk meals to the hospital and EMT workers.
Dear Nyack Nourishes Supporters!
The sun came out Tuesday, April 28th for what was a SUPER day in the village of Nyack. Your contributions made it possible for over 400 of our local essential workers to feel your support as we celebrated NYACK SUPER HERO DAY!
Your donations were spread throughout the Nyacks to four family run pizzerias as well as various shops and restaurants (Temptations, Strawberry Place, 8 North Broadway, Maura’s Kitchen, Casa Del Sol, Mumbai Dreams, Didier Dumas, Maura’s Kitchen, Olde Village Inne, Karenderya, Hudson Market, Maria Luisa, and Bill Batson art-wear) who each gave us discounts on meals and merchandise for our “Super Hero” gifts.
In turn we gave out over 400 pizza pies and 200 gift bags to essential community members who work in our banks, the DPWs, the Police departments from South Nyack, Nyack and Clarkstown, eight volunteer Fire departments, three pharmacies, three Village Halls, seven delicatessens, various truck drivers, grocery store cashiers, gas station attendants, postal workers, the funeral home, the family run hardware store and the amazing Nyack Center just to name a few.
Throughout the day, many residents showed their support from home by decorating their lawns, fences, windows, trash cans or their mailbox as a sign of support for these Super “Essential” Heroes. Some families even left out special treats!
The day wrapped up on a perfect note when we provided over 125 large hot pizza pies to hospital employees as they ended their shift and began to head home. Everyone knew about Nyack Nourishes and expressed their gratitude for the meals that they have been receiving for these past weeks. Overall it was a humbling day as each person we encountered expressed such gratitude for just being thought of. BRAVO TO ALL NYACK NOURISHES SUPPORTERS. Our village and the people who are essential to making it run, deserved this recognition so thanks to each of you for making this possible.

HELP OUR LOCAL BARBER
We are Aidan and Nathan, we are 14 years old and Vlad at Nyack Barbershop has been our barber for our whole lives! He is responsible for our great haircuts and we know there are lots of others of you around town who Vlad and his crew keep looking sharp. Due to COVID -19, the Nyack Barbershop is closed. We have decided to set up this Go Fund Me Page to help support him during this time.
